Tower of Terror not so tall? Park: MGM Submitted by: Kelly Submitted on: 7/7/2003 Confirmed by: Tinkerbell When building the Tower of Terror, the original tower was supposed to be much taller than what is built today. But, the taller tower would have had to have a blinking light at the top for planes. Disney thought this would ruin the effect of the theme of the ride, so they decided to build it just under the height required for the blinking light. Tinkerbell:Yes, it's true - after reading this I asked one of the cast members who confirmed this for me.
